OPC UA client
Peakboard is an OPC UA client that allows you to easily read and write back machine data.
Relevant KPIs at a glance
Create your individual app with key figures such as OEE, downtimes, target/actual comparisons, reject rates, and much more.
Real-time data processing
Crystal-clear transparency and maximum efficiency through extensive monitoring and reporting of operating data, such as machine faults and machine histories.
If you ever wanted to read and display machine data for an Industry 4.0 application to automate and standardize your production processes, you have probably already come across the term OPC UA. OPC (Open Platform Communications) refers to software technologies that represent a uniform interface for controlling different devices and exchanging data. OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is the latest specification and ensures cross-platform compatibility.
In addition to supporting a large range of different data sources, databases and ERP systems, Peakboard can also access machine controls or MES systems via OPC UA and shed light on your data in real time on a dashboard. This provides an easy way to supplement existing information systems. In this way, applications can be built that not only display machine data in real time, but also send commands back to the system from Peakboard Box or the connected touchscreen, e.g., for controlling processes or acknowledging error states. Machine data is combined with data from other data sources, such as SAP, for clear display on a dashboard so that ongoing processes, downtimes, etc., can be kept in view at all times. Sounds good, right?
The dialog in Peakboard Designer guides you through the individual configuration steps, from selecting the security standard to determining the variables to be read, which are quick and easy to create. In addition to the high level of usability, Peakboard also offers you comprehensive configuration options, including variable-specific modifications and further processing using Lua script or our low-code applications.
Don’t forget to import your client certificate. OPC UA needs this for communication. If you do not have a certificate, you can create a certificate directly in the data source using the corresponding button in Peakboard Designer.
Peakboard implements the OPC UA protocol as part of an OPC UA client, which is able to access the systems (OPC UA server) or the existing MES system without the need for additional middleware. Peakboard receives the data through subscriptions or interval-based read access. Any interruptions to the connection are detected and logged at lightning speed. The connection is then automatically reestablished. The certificates created using the SHA256 algorithm, which can also be imported and exported, are administered directly in Peakboard Designer.
Our tutorial shows you how to build an OPC UA-based HMI with Peakboard, which serves as a communication interface between your employees on the factory floor and your machines. The HMI shows both how many parts have been produced in total as well as which of these are rejects and which are not.
Thanks to our numerous interfaces, you can connect the exact data sources, platforms, and systems that are relevant to your processes. And thanks to the many features of Peakboard Designer, you can create your custom visualization of process data in exactly the representation you need. Of course, the data is transmitted in real time.
Our help site contains additional information about OPC UA data connections.
Would you like to get started with your first Peakboard project right now? Incidentally, our Template Portal also offers free templates for connecting and incorporating OPC UA data.
Capture, process and visualize your order data e.g. from SAP with the production data from your machine – in real time and without major programming effort.
Just download the software for free, install it on your PC and get started.
"Very flexible and simple solution with wide applications. Used in various areas of production and logistics together with SAP and nonERP data. Fully integrable with many standard interfaces and high flexibility for development. High degree of freedom in the presentation of visualizations."

Head of IT EMEA
"Our department needs data from different systems. With Peakboard, all data sources can be united in one overview. The time saved is enormous, as the data from the upstream systems is syncronized automatically and, above all, live. We can now take action based on the real-time data without wasting time. Easy design of meaningful dashboards on the KPIs that are important to us. Intuitive way of working."

"You can dig into plotting simple data. If you like it a bit prettier, you can also use the countless templates and customize them easily. If you do need support, it is 100% on point and very personally interested. We used to implement wallboards with the help of old Windows laptops. I was thrilled that there was such a super solution for this to be handled more professionally."
Benjamin S.
IT Administrator
"The visualization makes a very professional impression. Whereas Flipchart was used for presentation before, Peakboard now takes over. Up to date and attentive. Overall very good system for visualizing process data."
